"Jurassic World Rebirth" Dominates Global Screens, Surpassing $300 Million in Debut Run

The latest entry in Universal’s prehistoric powerhouse saga, Jurassic World Rebirth, has made a thunderous entrance, raking in a colossal $171 million from 82 international territories in its opening weekend. Since launching globally on Wednesday, the film has stomped its way to $318 million in total earnings, including $147 million from domestic theaters.

This seventh chapter in the dinosaur-driven franchise introduces a fresh cast—Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali—and pivots the story toward a high-stakes mission to recover dino DNA for pharmaceutical breakthroughs. Directed by Rogue One helmer Gareth Edwards and penned by Jurassic Park veteran David Koepp, the film reinvents the iconic series with a brand-new storyline and characters.

While initial North American numbers have softened slightly compared to past entries, international moviegoers remain wildly enthusiastic. Overseas markets have once again proven vital for the franchise’s success, much like they did with the previous Chris Pratt-led trilogy. So far, China has led the pack with $41 million, followed by the U.K. and Ireland ($16.6 million), Mexico ($13.9 million), and Germany ($7.6 million).

Racing Toward Profit: “F1: The Movie” Holds Steady

Apple’s high-octane sports drama F1: The Movie, starring Brad Pitt as a washed-up Formula One racer looking for redemption, is maintaining momentum in its second weekend. The film sped away with $56.3 million from 78 markets, bringing its international total to $184 million and $293 million globally. While the film has been warmly received, its hefty $250 million production budget means it’ll need a long box office run to reach profitability.

“Lilo & Stitch” Nears Box Office Glory

Disney’s live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch is closing in on the elusive billion-dollar club. After seven weekends, the heartfelt adaptation has reached $564.2 million abroad and an impressive $972.7 million worldwide. That puts it ahead of A Minecraft Movie ($954 million), making it the year’s top-grossing Hollywood release so far. However, it still trails behind China's animated juggernaut Ne Zha 2, which has earned a jaw-dropping $1.8 billion and remains the global box office titan of 2025.

Pixar’s “Elio” Struggles Despite Warm Reception

Meanwhile, Pixar’s original animated space odyssey Elio continues to fall short of expectations. The film has only managed $41.7 million in overseas sales and $96.8 million globally after three weekends. Though it has received positive feedback from critics and audiences alike, the lukewarm box office returns highlight the uphill battle faced by original animated features in today's market.
